The Bombay Stock Exchange’s flagship index Sensex closed at 49580.73, up 848.18 points, or 1.74 percent. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at the level of 14923.15 with a gain of 245.35 points, or 1.67 percent. The BSE Sensex lost 473.92 points, or 0.96 percent, in the previous week on the short trading day due to the holiday. Today, the market got the support of banking shares.
This week, the market will be determined by these factors
Analysts say the stock market move this week will be determined by the quarterly results of listed companies, the pace of vaccination campaigns, and the global market trend. Quarterly results of some companies such as Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Indian Oil Corporation, Havells, Hindalco, and Federal Bank are due this week. Apart from this, investors will also pay attention to the inflation based on the wholesale price index released on Monday.
State of heavy stock
Talking about the big stocks, today the shares of IndusInd Bank, SBI, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and HDFC Bank closed on the green mark. Cipla, Bharti Airtel, SBI Life Nestle India, and L&T closed at the red mark.
Last week, only two of the top 10 valued companies gained
The market capitalization of eight of the top 10 valued companies in the country decreased by Rs 1,13,074.57 crore last week combined. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, and HDFC Bank were the biggest losers. Only two of the top 10 valued companies, Reliance Industries and State Bank of India, made a profit on a weekly basis.
Sectoral index tracking
If we look at the sectoral index, today all sectors of pharma and media closed on the green mark. These include FMCG PSU Bank, Auto, Realty, Private Bank, IT, Metal, Pharma, Bank, and Finance Services.
Market was open on the green mark
In early trade, the Sensex gained 264.38 points (0.54 percent) to open at the level of 48996.93. At the same time, the Nifty opened 76 points (0.52 percent) at 14753.80.
The stock market closed at a flat level on Friday
The stock market closed flat on Friday. The Sensex closed up 41.75 points, or 0.09 percent, at the level of 48732.55. At the same time, the Nifty closed at 14677.80, a slight drop of 18.70 points or 0.13 percent.
