The Korean crime show, which was released on Netflix on September 17, has proved to be a gamechanger for the squid game platform. The worldwide popularity of the show has created global turmoil in Netflix. A report released by the OTT platform said that the platform received 4.4 million new subscribers in the third quarter of July to September and Netflix has 214 million, or 21.4 crores paid members, by the end of the quarter.
The squid game gained tremendous popularity in Korea first after its release and then the show became the biggest show in Netflix’s history. According to the report, within four short stakes in the release, 142 million, or 14.2 million households, worldwide have watched the show. Netflix had earlier reported that the show had garnered 111 million views in 25 days. The company expects 8.5 million more paid consumers to be added in the October to December quarter.
Several important shows and films are set to release on Netflix from October to December. These include the final part of the last season of the much-awaited show Money Highest, which releases on December 3. Money Highest Season 5 has been divided into two parts by the platform. The first part has been released on September 3. On the other hand, the second season of The Vicher is coming up on December 17. It is also included in Netflix’s popular shows.
Apart from these international shows, Bollywood films and series will be seen on Netflix in the coming months. Call My Agent – Bollywood Army of Thieves is releasing on October 29. This will be followed by Meenakshi Sundaram’s release on November 5 which stars Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dasani in lead roles. On the other hand, Dhamaka will release on November 19, starring Kartik Aaryan and Amrita Subhash in lead roles while Mrinal Thakur is making special appearances.
