LIVE Kisan Mahapanchyat in Muzaffarnagar: Women farmers are also gathered at the Kisan Mahapanchayat to be held in Muzaffarnagar, the karmabhoomi of Chaudhary Mahendra Singh Tikait, who is considered to be the messiah of farmers on Sunday in protest against the Narendra Modi government’s three agricultural laws.

Women farmers say that we have come here demanding repeal of three agricultural laws. We request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw three laws from here. If he withdraws the agricultural law, we will be able to gather here.

Additional security for Kisan Mahapanchayat

In Muzaffarnagar, additional security arrangements have been made for the Kisan panchayat on Sunday. Strict instructions have also been issued to the districts from the DGP headquarters level. Additional IPS officers have also been sent to Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Shamli, Bijnor, and Ghaziabad. About 20 company PACs have also been deployed. Instructions have also been issued to impose additional duty at all major places along with full vigilance in all these districts.

Doubts over leaders coming

In the Mahapanchayat, National President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Naresh Tikait and National Spokesperson Chau. Apart from Rakesh Tikait, farmer leaders from various provinces including Haryana, Punjab will also be present. The Mahapanchayat is supported by the Congress, Rashtriya Lok Dal, and the Samajwadi party but the picture of top leaders of political parties joining is not clear yet. The office-bearers of the United Kisan Morcha are silent on this.

In Muzaffarnagar, farmers will shout against the BJP government at the Government Inter College ground on Sunday (today) on the call of the United Kisan Morcha. Farmers have been agitating at the Delhi border for nearly eight months in protest against the three agricultural laws of the Central Government. In the same vein, preparations for the Kisan Mahapanchayat to be held in Muzaffarnagar today were going on a war footing for several days. The organizers and the police administration have made all preparations for the Mahapanchayat to be held here. The organizers have provided 500 anchors and 1000 medical units for the farmers. The administration is also on alert about the Mahapanchayat. Police have been called from several districts. Farmers’ organizations have also prepared 5000 volunteers for arrangements and security. A waterproof platform has also been set up along with a pandal of about 2 lakh square feet. Farmers from the States of Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan, etc. Arrangements have been made for their stay and meals at various places.

The administration has closed liquor shops on Sunday as well as Saturday night due to the Mahapanchayat but there is no order to close the market. Most of the shopkeepers themselves have talked about keeping the establishment closed. On Sundays, the market in the Naimandi area remains closed in weekly bands anyway.
