West Bengal Lockdown: In view of the ever-increasing corona infection cases in West Bengal, the Mamta government has announced a strict lockdown from 16 to 30 May. During the 15-day lockdown in Bengal, metro, bus services, and other services will be completely closed except for essential services. School colleges and all other educational institutions will remain closed during this period.

Alapan Bandopadhyay, the Chief Secretary in the Mamta government, has issued its orders. Under the order, there will be a lockdown in Bengal from May 16 to May 30. During this time only essential services will be operational. Private offices, school colleges, metro and bus services will all be closed. Fruit-vegetable and ration shops will also be open from 7 am to 10 am. People will be prohibited from 9 o’clock in the night to 5 o’clock in the morning.

Bengal: What will remain closed?

All government and private offices (except essential services), schools, colleges will remain closed. Also, political, cultural, and religious activities will be banned. Except for industries like essentials, all other industries will remain closed. Except for trucks or goods vehicles engaged in essential services, private trucks, taxis, autos other than emergency will not run. Local trains, metro services, bus services, train services will also be closed.

Milk and fruit and vegetable shops will open for just 3 hours

Fruit-vegetable, ration, milk shops will be open from 7 am to 10 am. Dessert shops will be open till 5 pm. Banks will be operational from 10 am to 2 pm. 50 people can attend the wedding and 20 people will attend the funeral.

20,846 new cases a day in Bengal

Corona infection is increasing rapidly in West Bengal. After the maximum number of 20,846 new cases reported in a single day on Saturday, the total number of infections has gone up to 10,94,802. After killing 136 more people from Kovid-19, the death toll has risen to 12,993.
