Emma Raducanu wins US Open 2021: England’s young women’s tennis sensation Emma Rasshoparu clinched the US Open women’s singles title on Saturday (local time). Emma Rasshoparu has won the title in 53 years by defeating Canada’s Laila Fernandez in the final to become the first British woman to win the title. She is also the first British woman player in 44 years to win a Grand Slam singles title. Emma Rasshopuru, 18, defeated her Canadian opponent 6-4, 6-3 in straight sets in the final held at Arthur Ash Stadium in New York.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Twitter that Rasshopuru showed extraordinary skills in the game. He tweeted, “What a sensational match! Congratulations to Emma Rasshopuru. You showed extraordinary skill, poise, and courage and we are all very proud of you. ”
Rasshopu became the first player to reach a big final. This was the first all-teenage major final since Serena Williams defeated Martina Hingis at the 1999 US Open. According to wtatennis.com, She is the youngest British finalist in 62 years, the first British woman to reach a major final in 44 years and the first British woman to reach the final of the US Open in 53 years.
