Maharashtra Board Teacher Boycott Assessment: MSBSHSE warns schools of derecognition

Maharashtra Board Teacher Boycott Assessment: The Mumbai division of the Maharashtra state board has alerted schools that if there is a delay in the assessment work due to their teachers, they may lose their recognition as board exam centers. Teachers who do not complete the assessment work on time will also face monetary penalties. Earlier, there were reports that several teachers from unaided schools have boycotted the exam evaluation demanding a 100 percent government grant.

According to a leading news daily, the letter, issued on April 16, was written in response to the board’s observation that many teachers had failed to submit the answer sheets assessed on time. It has been a long time since the 10th and 12th board exams were completed. The 10th exams concluded on April 4, while the 12th exams ended on April 7.

The Mumbai division of the state board said many teachers were delaying the assessment work by boycotting the exam paper correction. It said that in cases of such delays, moderators would be responsible for providing revised answer sheets to the board and bearing the expenses. This expenditure has to be met by deducting allowances allocated to teachers for paper correction.

Given the gravity of the situation, in which the state board results are likely to be delayed, the board said that if the teachers are not warned now, schools will have to face consequences. It said schools risk losing their status as state board centers.

After the state board exams, the time frame for completing the assessment work is normally developed to disclose the results on time. As per the schedule, the teachers who check the answer sheets will have to complete the assessment and submit the paper to the moderator. The answer sheets will then be collected from the moderator by the board’s divisional office.
